First DEBRIS performance presented by Galería Hilario Galguera, as part of the Zona Maco 2025 VIP calendar of events. Mexico City, 2025.

In the historic setting of a deconsecrated church in the heart of Mexico City, artist and composer Gabriel O’Shea unveiled his debut album, Debris, in an immersive live performance that blurred the boundaries between sound, ritual, and spatial intervention. The work, conceived as an auditory requiem for a world in decay, explores the dissolution of certainties, the erosion of faith, and the emergence of technology as the dominant force in contemporary spirituality.

For this performance, O’Shea collaborated with musician Matt Castillo, reinterpreting the compositions of Debris through live instrumentation and vocals, expanding the album’s sonic textures into a physical and immediate presence. The event was further heightened by a bespoke olfactory composition, created in collaboration with Aromaria, enveloping the audience in an atmospheric synthesis of scent and sound.

Attended by over 300 guests, the performance functioned as both an invocation and an elegy—a space where the echoes of the past collided with the digital specters of the future.
